Work Health and Safety (WHS)

Toolijooa is committed to the aim of providing a safe and healthy work environment for all employees and for visitors to the workplace. We recognise that maintaining the highest possible standards of health and safety is a key management responsibility.

In fulfilling this aim, we are committed to regular consultation with workers on health and safety issues. We promise to provide the necessary time, energy and resources in order to:

  • Identify and comply with relevant WHS legislation
  • Develop and maintain a Work Health & Safety Management System
  • Develop a task specific approach to risk identification, assessment and management
  • Provide and maintain safe plant and systems of work
  • Provide, monitor and maintain systems for the safe use, handling, storage and transportation of plant and substances
  • Keep the workplace in a safe and healthy condition
  • Provide adequate staff welfare facilities
  • Provide suitable information, training and supervision for all employees
  • Provide regular feedback to staff on company WHS performance

Toolijooa’s Work Health & Safety Management System has been reviewed and accredited by Sydney Water in accordance with the requirements of the NSW Government’s WHS Management System Guidelines – 4th edition.


Toolijooa is committed to the development and implementation of best practice environmental management, provision of ecologically sound products and services and support of local economies, as consistent with the principles of ecologically sustainable development.

Toolijooa strives to continually improve environmental performance, implementing industry best practice in cost effective, site-specific strategies to ensure that our bushland management is of the highest quality. In doing so, we recognise the prevention of pollution and maintaining the highest possible standards of environmental management practice are key company responsibilities.

Toolijooa is committed to:

  • ensuring all employees are aware of this environmental policy and understand their responsibilities within it,
  • complying with the Australian Government Florabank code of practice and guidelines for native seed collection, record keeping, processing, storage and propagation for all its provenance nursery operations,
  • recycling and reusing of office and nursery waste where practical,
  • purchasing of quality equipment, designed for longevity and safety, to ensure minimum waste,
  • minimising packaging and using recycled materials and packaging where available,
  • investing in renewable energy sources where possible,
  • encouraging all employees to car-pool where possible.

Toolijooa’s Environmental Management System has been reviewed and accredited bythe Department of Commerce in accordance with NSW Government Environmental Management System Guidelines 1998.
